Brand book + social media best practices

Brand color specifications/theme
With the launch of the new Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center facility, management requested the re-design of the internal brand book. This new brand book that was created by the marketing and design team included best practices for color combinations and examples for social media posts along with branding standards for internal designers and staff to consistently follow.

Typography guidelines for all mediums
Best practices for legible and inclusive copy were also introduced and established to give an overall facelift to our social media presence along with front-facing websites. A complete overhaul was done for all of our SJSU Student Union sites, pages, and social posts.

Blog strategy and personal testimonials
We wanted to increase visits to our new website and felt there was a lack of student testimonials that talked about their personal experiences working at the Student Union Inc. Therefore, we decided to get some students in management positions and highlight their achievements within their respective roles. An example of one of the testimonials I wrote is showcased here.
Meet our Spartan Rec Employee Julia Kolenkina
Here at Spartan Recreation, we encourage professional development through professional staff that assist our students in attaining their career goals. We are proud to showcase such an individual who has shown exemplary work skills throughout her employment at the Bowling Center.
Julia has worked at the Bowling Center for two years, starting as a student with no work experience, gradually moving up the ranks to a supervisor. Now, Julia has graciously accepted a position at the Grant Thornton as a risk advisor. As a parting gift, she offers her unique sights and advice to future ambitious applicants of Spartan Recreation.
Most impactful thing you bring to work
My willingness to learn. I started my job at the Bowling Center not knowing anything about bowling. My willingness to learn not only helped me gain work experience but also gave me knowledge of operating expensive machinery and the ability to adapt and take in an overwhelming amount of information.

Celebratory graduation cards
Management wanted to send out special digital celebratory graduation cards that incorporated the new branding that was designed and have it sent to the graduating senior staff within the Student Union. I led the initiative in making sure they were sent out correctly to all internal student staff a couple of weeks before graduation and included a discount code to all alumni in the email to be used for the first year after post-grad.
